Honored to Serve: Joining Wyoming’s Literacy Cabinet

At Instructional Intensity Inc., our mission has always been simple and clear: support educators so every student has the opportunity to become a confident reader. That mission is now taking on a new dimension, and I am honored to share some exciting news.

Last year I accepted the invitation to serve on the Wyoming State Superintendent’s Literacy Cabinet. This group brings together educators, leaders, and literacy advocates from across the state to strengthen reading instruction and ensure that all Wyoming students have access to high-quality literacy opportunities.

Why This Matters for Wyoming

Literacy is the foundation for all learning. When students learn to read, they unlock every other subject, every other dream.

The work of the Literacy Cabinet is about making sure schools have the support, structures, and resources to help every child (no matter where they live in our state) develop strong reading skills.

This effort aligns directly with what we do at Instructional Intensity Inc.:

• Partner with schools to strengthen instruction
• Provide evidence-based strategies educators can use right away
• Stand beside teachers as they guide students toward literacy success

A Journey Rooted in Years of Work

This appointment is not about one moment. It represents years of dedication from educators across Wyoming.

My own path began long ago, when I first stepped into classrooms as a “baby teacher” eager to help struggling readers. Along the way, I learned from mentors, studied research and evidence-based practices, and partnered with schools big and small. Each experience shaped my belief that supported educators transform student outcomes.

Being invited to join the Literacy Cabinet feels like a natural extension of that journey. It is an opportunity to bring local perspective, practical experience, and deep commitment to a statewide conversation about how to help students thrive.

Looking Ahead Together

I am both humbled and proud to be on the Wyoming Literacy Cabinet. But more than anything, I am hopeful.

Hopeful that by working together—educators, leaders, families, and communities—we can build a stronger foundation for Wyoming’s students.
